Celebrate Women In Business 2015 with FirstThursday, NOON, March 5, 2015

March is Women’s history month and FirstThursday is proud to honor and pay tribute to the women who help make America a World Class country. Please join FirstThursday Jacksonville, Noon, March 5, 2015 at the Jacksonville Urban League, 903 West Union Street as we Celebrate Women In Business 2015. RSVP to info@firstthursdayjacksonvillle.org or call (904) 374-9313.

In the United States, Women’s History Month traces its beginnings back to the first International Women’s Day in 1911. In 1978, the school district of Sonoma, California participated in Women’s History Week, an event designed around the week of March 8 (International Women’s Day). In February 1980, President Jimmy Carter issued a presidential proclamation declaring the week of March 8, 1980, as National Women’s History Week.

“Many of these women are unsung heroes who for the most part care more about their families than they do about seeking admiration or celebrity status,” stated W. Larry Williams, president & CEO of FirstThursday. “During the day, these women are busy being business women who are trying desperately to maintain their family lives while crashing the ‘glass ceiling’ of a male dominated society.”

Williams continued, “These women are our Mother’s, grandmothers, Wives, Sisters, Daughters, Aunts, nieces, and friends who give unconditionally and unselfishly to make our communities a great place to live, work and play.”

If you would like to celebrate a special woman in business, simply send FirstThursday Jacksonville the name and why you would like to have her honored at FirstThursday’s March 5th meeting. Send to: info@firstthursdayjacksonville.org or call (904) 374-9313.
