WOW The Big Launch of FirstThursday Jacksonville FL was an overwhelming success. A CAPACITY crowd showed up at the AQUA Deerwood Hospitality Center in south Jacksonville to learn more about what the NEW COOL for Black and small business is all about.

“I want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting FirstThursday Jacksonville during our Big Launch yesterday. We know that you could have been many places but the fact that you decided to spend a couple of hours with us was humbling,” Stated W. Larry Williams, Founder and CEO of FirstThursday Biz Jacksonville and Seattle.
.
“But what most people will be talking about for a long time was one of the best speeches ever that was delivered by my longtime friend, Nate Miles,” Williams added.
Many community organizations and political leaders were represented including William Merriman, president, Jacksonville Chapter, APRI, Opio Sokoni, president, Jacksonville Chapter, SCLC, Michael Wells, Chairman, Coalition of Presidents of Community Organizations, Bill Gulliford, president, Jacksonville City Council, Jim Love, District 14 Council Member, Jacksonville City Council, Jacksonville City Council candidate, Gloria Johnson and Jacquie Gibbs, Vice President External Affairs, Jacksonville Transportation Authority were among the many dignitaries there to welcome FirstThursday to Jacksonville. Rev. Andrew Sims, Sr., Pastor, St. Nicholas Bethel Baptist Church and newly appointed Co-Chair of FirstThursday Jacksonville delivered the Invocation and Rev. Clifford Johnson, Senior Pastor, Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church closed out the meeting with the Benediction.

Pastor Sims said that he was literally in tears as Nate spoke about Dr. King’s action plan that was delivered during Dr. King’s now famous “I Have a Dream” speech.
“I am a hard man to bring to tears, but Nate literally had me and the audience in tears as he spoke about a variety subjects related to health, education and future technology. He absolutely bought it and had the crowd standing and shouting. It was the first time that I have ever heard an audience ask for an encore,” said Sims.

“It was a pleasure to spend some time with you (FirstThursday Jacksonville) yesterday and I look forward to doing some “drum majoring” with you in the future. (Re: what Nate said about “Drum Major Instinct…” That hit home with me because I was a marching band director at the University of Arkansas in a previous life.), stated Jeremy Pratchard of New York Life. “FirstThursday is a wonderful empowerment for local businesses of all shapes and sizes and this is something I’m very passionate about. I look forward to staying in touch with you and helping you in any way I can to further your mission, he added.

“I want to thank the citizens of Jacksonville and Duval County for the warm welcome that you have afforded me and Francine as we continue our mission and ministry of FirstThursday Biz, Mr. Williams stated. “We want to also extend thanks to the entire Jacksonville community for coming out to support our community and organization,” Williams concluded.
